Prophetic Passages That Foretold The Coming Of Jesus From Old Testament Scripture

While the title “Savior” may not be explicitly used for Jesus in the Old Testament, there are prophetic passages and verses that foreshadow the role of a coming Savior or Messiah. These verses are often interpreted as pointing forward to Jesus as the ultimate Savior. Here are a few examples:
1. Isaiah 43:11 (NIV):
“I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior.”
2. Isaiah 49:6 (NIV):
“He says: ‘It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.’
3. Micah 5:2 (NIV):
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”
4. Zechariah 9:9 (NIV):
“Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”
These Old Testament verses, among others, are seen as pointing to the future arrival of a Savior or Messiah. The New Testament then identifies Jesus as the fulfillment of these prophecies, establishing him as the Savior of humanity.
